KMS – Dry Shine Styler
You might remember, a couple of weeks ago, that I was dribbling over the KMS Dry Shine Styler.
I had hoped that it would be able to table my Bart Simpson Tribute Hair baby hairs that, like alfalfa sprouts, reach for the sky and refuse to be tamed.
According to the PR,
The limited edition Dry Shine Styler form KMS California was developed in collaboration with session stylist and International Artistic Director Clive Allwright. The perfect solution for taming frizz as well as enhancing shine on-the-go.
So let’s see how it actually performed….
Packaging
This is effectively packaged like a glue stick. No, I’m being totally serious. It comes in a grey tube, with a windup bottom.
I was so surprised when I opened this as I was expecting a serum or spray. It’s kinda neat and innovative, to be honest, and a definite conversation starter. The packaging makes this portable and that, in itself, makes it unique. No big tub to contend with. No serums leaking into your handbag. Genius.
Just DON’T leave it where the kids will find it. My boys managed to get hold of it for a hot 15 seconds and used it to try and stick confetti to the cat (dont ask, seriously, they are hellions). It didn’t stick but the cat has the coolest freaking hairstyle ever at the moment.
Product
You can apply this directly from the tube onto the hair. Just wind up the product and lightly run the tube along the hair you want to style.
For me, I prefer to swipe a little of the product onto my fingers, warm up and then run through the offending Bart Simpson hairs. I find I’m better able to control the distribution and intensity of the product.
Does it tame the baby hairs? Oh it does, baby, it does. And it tames them without my hair looking like John Travolta in Grease. I’m not sure what laws of gravity it has to break to do this, but it works.
I’m especially finding this useful now that I’m rocking the pixie cut where I have ALOT of short hair, as well as my baby hairs. I just work the product into the areas that are sticking up / misbehaving and it’s like Caesar Milan training a dog. My hair can’t help but obey.
Price
This will set you back $19.95. The tube is huge and you don’t use much. I reckon this will last up to 12 months, maybe even longer.
Would I repurchase?
So long as my hair continues to be a recalcitrant child, ABSOLUTELY. This tames the baby hairs without making my hair feel and look greasy. I just need to keep it away from the kids.
