BYS – Neon Eyeshadows

BYS – Neon Eyeshadows

As you would have read on YGN, today is Australia day.  It’s a special, not least because it means I don’t have to go to work and that is always a happy day.  I slept in until 8am, snuggled with Brett, and thanked the good Lord above for giving me kids who happily leave me alone in the morning.

To celebrate the wonderfulness that is Australia, today I’m reviewing BYS’ Neon Eyeshadows.  This was a limited edition but it’s still available to purchase so, if you have a spare $6, go for it.

Packaging

This packaging is very very simple.  Just a palette with five bars of colour and a sponge applicator.

Product

If you love the 80s, and really who doesn’t, you are going to love this palette.  It has all the bright colours we wore in our hair, on our faces, and on our feet (if you were into the fluorescent sock trend).  Check out the swatches below and definitely click for the larger images.

Despite the colours being super bright, they are surprisingly wearable.  I actually wore the yellow to work and it just worked.  Yes, it was kinda out there but, so long as the rest of your look is toned down, these colours don’t look overly out of the ordinary.

Quality-wise, you do need to work this product a specific way.  If you want a sheer look, just rub some shadow over the eye.  If you want a heavier look, DO NOT RUB.  Seriously, this stuff is almost chalk like in the way it rubs away.  For heavier looks, pat onto the eye patiently and then gently blend so you don’t lose any intensity.

To get a really vibrant and long-lasting look, make sure you use a primer and/or apply with an adhesive (like MAC Fix+).

Price

This will set you back $6.  The price of a sandwich.

Would I repurchase?

I like this but it’s just so niche that a) I probably won’t ever get through it and/or hit the pan; and b) as a result, I can’t see myself buying it again.  Which isn’t a bad thing.  I”m enjoying this palette for what it is.  A great trip down memory lane, at an amazing price.
