Benefit – You Rebel

Benefit – You Rebel

You might think we MBBE girls made out like bandits at last year’s blogger event. And you’d be right. Very right.

Another bit of treasured contra I received was Benefit’s You Rebel.

Our defiantly different tinted moisturizer gives your complexion coverage, moisture and SPF 15 protection all in one. For fair-skinned rebels.

I must admit, despite getting this months ago, I have held off on reviewing it because I just wasn’t sure whether I liked the product or not.  I’ve now decided.  Read on to find out.

Packaging

This comes in a metal tube, which is quite a departure from the uber feminine approach that I associate with other Benefit products.

The tube is great for me because it’s sanitary and it is easy to get the product out.  Sometimes, a little too easy.  The picture above is from me just removing the lid.  No squeezing of the tube or anything.  It just comes out.  I think it’s happy to see me.

Product

When my skin was oily and greasy, this just did not work for me.  It made my face look muddy and I swear, I had enough grease on my face to fry eggs.  For a scout troop.

But, now that my skin is balancing itself out, and revealing itself to be a combination with lots of dry patches, this is an absolute godsend.  Godsend.  It assuages any flakes I might have and evens out my complexion.  I smear this on with my fingers and, if needed, set it with a pressed powder.  It’s very much the type of product you just slap on and forget about.

In terms of coverage, there is very little.  So if you’re looking for something to cover imperfections, this is not it.  I still see all my faults and imperfections, but no redness.  So it’s pretty much limited to weekend use where I just want to cover my worst excesses but don’t want to invest in more significant coverage.

The texture of this is quite creamy initially but, upon contact with the skin, it becomes very easy to spread.  The size here on my hand (pea size) is enough for my whole face.

In short, from a rocky start, I really do like this now.  But, if you are oily skinned, it’s my opinion that this product might be problematic for you.  It was for me.  But, for dry skinned girls, embrace and enjoy.  You will love this.

Price

In the US, this will set you back $30.  As I was given this, I’m not sure what it costs in Australia but I say $50+ is a reasonable expectation.

Would I repurchase?

I would now that it’s working for my skin combination.  I am reaching for it more and more, which is always a good sign with me.

It’s a great product, IF you have the right skin. If you’re oily – no bueno. If you’re combination heading towards dry, it’s gorgeous.

This is a wonderful product which I had used a while ago but keep coming back to. It imparts just that natural finish, doesn’t it? But yes, I’d think that oily skins wouldn’t do well with it since it’s so creamy and thick.

Totally agree, Nadia. I found it just too heavy when I had oily skin. Now I can’t be without it.
