Stila – Eye for Color Palette
Wow, this has been sitting in my kit for a few months now, and I just haven’t gotten around to reviewing it.
I’m a big fan of Stila. Their Convertible Color product is a classic and a staple for me, and their lip glazes are to die for.
The Eye for Color palette features 13 eyeshadows and promises the following: ‘easy-to-create looks… the perfect travel companion’.
Packaging
This is beautiful packaging. Although it comes in a hard cardboard case, it feels sturdy. The shadows are spaced out in a star pattern from the centre colour. On the back of the palette is a menu which tells you the name of each colour.
But a travel companion? No. This is huge and won’t fit it into a regular sized handbag without some jostling.
Product
The colours in this palette are truly stunning. Each colour is an absolute winner in terms of pigment and intensity (definitely click on the swatches at the end of this post to see the shadows in all their glory).
Orchid and Burgundy are my personal favourites. Especially Orchid.
BUT, these lack longevity. Even with a good primer, I find these don’t last for anything more than 5-6 hours. So ok for a dinner with friends, but no good for work or for a big night out.
Price
I paid $38 for this here in Australia. You can pick this up in the US for $18.
Would I repurchase?
You know, I probably wouldn’t.
Whilst I really like the colours, the lack of staying power is bothersome.
