Too Faced – Shadow Insurance

Too Faced – Shadow Insurance

This is such an iconic product that my review seems somewhat redundant.  But I’ll give you my thoughts on this anyway.

According to its website, this product promises to:

Your full-coverage insurance policy against eye shadow fading, creasing, and melting. Our silicone-based eyeshadow primer transforms any eye shadow into a perfectly blendable, color-drenched, intensified version of itself, then locks it down perfectly until you take it off. Our skin soothing formula evens out the skin tone on your lids and smoothes out lines while it secures a barrier between the oils of your skin and your makeup, so no shadow catastrophes will ever happen again.

Apparently, the only thing this can’t do is solve world peace.  Which, for $30, I can live with.

Packaging

Unlike it’s Urban Decay cousin, this packaging is straight forward, practical and functional.  Just a simple tube with a narrow tip.

Product

I LOVE THIS.  I’ve been using this for around a year now and it’s a staple in my kit.  If I don’t have it, my heart literally skips a beat because I know what’s going to happen without it – creasing, lack of longevity and shadow slipping down my face.

To apply, I squeeze the tiniest amount onto my finger and pat gently onto my eye.  I leave for a minute or two before then applying shadow.

To say this is amazing is an understatement.  Not only does it make colours come alive, but it sustains them all day.  I have very oily lids but this stuff holds onto shadow amazingly well.

Price

We pay $30 here in Australia, but you can get it from the US for around $18.  So not a huge markup for us, which makes a pleasant change!

Would I repurchase?

Yes, and I do regularly.  This is a must have in my opinion.

In terms of primer, UDPP is better. But I really despise the packaging on UDPP and hate having to cut it open to get the product out. So I tolerate the marginally less good Too Faced because of the hideous UDPP packaging.

    I just ordered some :)

I love this as well. When I travel I take a mini UDPP as it lives in my travel bag but I much prefer the shadow insurance.

I prefer the UDPP in terms of primer, but the packaging is so diabolical. And this is pretty comparable for me.

Awesome, have you tried it before? Let me know what you think.

I got a mini udpp with the naked palette and already it gives me the craps with it’s stupid applicator, might grab a tube or two of this one to use instead! :)

The packaging of UDPP is a deal breaker. They briefly changed it as a limited edition but it’s back to normal, I believe. Hideous.

This is my HG primer. The UDPP doesn’t work at all for me, but this one is GOLD.
