Estee Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow
I received Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Eyeshadow in Enchanted Forest as part of the MBBE event.
I’ve tried alot of Estee Lauder’s range but eyeshadows were just not a product line I’d ever considered. As ignorant as it is to confess, I’d figured that the eyeshadows were for old ladies. And that I wasn’t old enough (yet) to attempt them.
But I found out, when researching more about Pure Colors, that these come in a range of finishes (shimmer, metallic, rose satin and matte), and a big range of colours. Yes, some shades are strictly Golden Girls-esque, but there are plenty of shades for the rest of us.
Packaging
Classic, elegant Estee Lauder packaging. This comes with a sizeable mirror (very useful) and a small sponge applicator (not useful).
Product
There are things I really like about this product. And things I really don’t like (and/or things that don’t work for me).
I love the texture of the shadow. It’s easy to apply and easy to blend. And it lasts as long as you want it to without budging. Put this on at 8am and it will look exactly the same at 8pm. It doesn’t move. It doesn’t shift. It doesn’t crease. It just stays put.
On the other hand, these aren’t very pigmented, so you’ll only ever get a wash of colour over the lid, and never a truly intense look (as shown below – first photo is without, the second and third photos are with). Which is a shame as I was hoping that Enchanted Meadow would be a vibrant green but it ended up being a more subtle mint green.
And you can’t pack more on without it looking cakey and obvious. So that’s a big downside for me.
Price
We pay $42 for this in Australia
Would I repurchase?
I would if I were looking for a subtle layering shadow, but not if I wanted something with an impact. Despite the ease of application, the lack of pigmentation is an issue for me.
