L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Primer

L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Primer

Primers.

I’ve tried to love them, but the only one I’ve found that works is, actually, not a primer.

I recently had the opportunity to trial L’Oreal’s Studio Secrets Professional Primer.  According to L’Oreal, ‘inspired by professional make-up, this primer masks wrinkles and uneven textures in the skin, making the complexion incredibly smooth with a velvety touch. Skin feels soft as if resurfaced’.

We’ll see about that!

Packaging

This comes in a jar, which is not my preference (as you all know).  I would rather this came in a tube but I suspect the mousse texture (which I’ll go into a minute) would preclude that type of packaging.

On the bright side, this is super cute in the bathroom cabinet.  And the pink colour of the primer makes me want to eat it!

Product

My initial reaction when I applied this for the first time was ‘this is NOT going to work’.  Although the texture of the primer is like a whipped mousse, you do have to rub to get the product to sink in.  And, initially, it feels a little heavy on the skin.  I was convinced this should just suffocate my oily t-zone and lead to disaster.

But that feeling is temporary.  After five minutes, the heaviness dissipates and my skin feels super smooth and soft to the touch.

But does it work as a primer?  Totally. It’s like this primer has a million suction cups that grabs onto foundation and blush and DOES NOT LET GO.  I’ve been wearing this for over a week daily – in both a harsh and dry office environment as well as a sticky and hot (thanks to the summer weather) house.  This is a trooper.  It keeps everything in place.

AND it has worked nothing short of miracles in my very dark under eye area. I dab a little on the area and it acts as a perfect base for concealer / highlighter, reducing creping and flakiness.  That alone is worth the admission price because I do struggle tremendously in that area.

Price

$39.95

Would I repurchase?

Absolutely! Not only does this brighten my skin but it acts like fly paper in drawing and holding foundation on my face all day.  I’ve finally found a primer that really delivers what it promises.

I also reviewed this product on my blog. I like it a lot, although it didn't work to hold my foundation all day. However, I felt my skin was extremely soft and brighter, pores were diminished and my skin texture was so much improved! I agree with you that is an awesome primer, but I use it on top of another one that helps to hold my foundation in place.

I'm a bit wary that this might break me out if it has silicone in it. Well done for finding a primer you like :-) xclever-rabbit.blogspot.comtwitter: Clever_Rabbit

Yah, just be careful with it. Anything with a 'cone' is always a matter of trial and error.

Agree re the price – it is steep.

    No way!

How much stuff are you going to buy for me, missy?

I found that it worked really well with MAC and Bare Escentuals (which are the two foundations I'm veering between at the moment). I should try it with some others.
