Alaska Glacial Mud Company – Glacial Facial
I was recently given the opportunity to trial the Alaskan Mud Company Glacial Facial.
I’ve always liked mud masks so was keen to give this a try. I find that, on my sensitive and red skin, mud masks provide a cooling experience, and my skin inevitable ends up softer and clearer than before.
This product promises the following:
The micro-fine silt in the mud is a natural and gentle exfoliant while the electromagnetic properties of clay attract oils, draw impurities from the skin, and promote circulation. This mud masque does not clog pores and promises a deep cleanse. The pure mud is further enriched with a special combination of certified organic and wildcrafted botanical extracts from the Pacific Northwest including kelp, nettle, horsetail, elderflower, yarrow, cranberry, blueberry and vitamins e and b5 that are chosen for their moisturizing, skin-softening, anti-aging and immunoprotective properties.
Sounds fancy, but does it work?
Packaging
If you buy the full size, it comes in a jar. Because I received samples, they came in a little sachet. Which, really, I prefer to jars because it’s far more hygenic (in my mind anyway).
Product
This is unlike any other mud mask I’ve trialled.
The formula is extraordinarily light but somehow smooths on and covers like a thick night cream.
To use, I just smooth onto my face (excuse the Wondercap in the photo above. I’m multitasking! Oh, and I still have angry eyes too. Actually, I think it’s my eyebrows that are the angry ones), leave to dry and then rinse off with warm water.
This mask gives my skin an almost instantaneous lift and spring. And it’s incredibly soothing for my poor skin which, thanks to my use of BHAs and Retinol, can be a little sensitive and red.
Long term benefits, I can’t comment on, as I received two samples and have used them both. But, I have noticed that, subsequent to using the mask, my skin care products (serums and moisturisers) do tend to sink in better. And my oily skin is definitely kept in check.
Best part? It scares the bejesus out of the kids and I get ten minutes peace on the couch with my magazine. Worth the admission price all on its own.
Price
$59
Would I repurchase?
From what I’ve seen, this is a lovely mask and does what it promises. I like the light formula and the fact that it is incredibly calming on my never calm skin. I’m not sure of repurchase just because I haven’t used it for long enough. But what I see, I like.
