You’ve Got OMGWTFBBQ – Illamasqua Melbourne Launch!

On Sunday, a dream I’ve long held finally came true. Illamasqua – finally – opened their Melbourne counter at Myer Melbourne and I, along with a number of other bloggers, had the opportunity to attack their counter en masse (seriously, we were like a well groomed locust swarm).

To see one of my favourite brands open their counter in my hometown was an emotional experience. I’ve loved this brand from its inception. It’s courageous, innovative and, as Christabel Druffin put it, a ‘let your freak flag fly’ brand.

The counter in Myer is right next to MAC and it’s stunning. I watched as the usually unflappable MAC make up artists gazed wistfully across at the floor. 

And let’s talk about the music.  The Clash.  David Bowie.  Blondie.  I was in heaven.

All the product is laid out at the front whilst, at the back, there is an open area.  This open area will be used, in the future, for masterclasses AND to provide a space for up and coming artists to showcase their work.  I love that Illamasqua have thought of nurturing talent as well as selling makeup. This isn’t so much a brand as it is an evolution.
