Product Review – Bourjois Eyeshadow

Product Review – Bourjois Eyeshadow

I had a few friends badger me into trying Bourjois. Admittedly, I’ve always been curious of Chanel’s little sister brand, so I picked up three of their eyeshadows.

See what I think after the jump.

Packaging

These come in little single cases, complete with a mirror and domed shadow. I like the fact that they are colour coded, making them very easy to spot in my makeup train.

Product

Here’s where the problems are. See that photo above?  That’s, from left to right, green, blue and brown.  And it’s not subtle application on my part. That’s the shadows applied wet with a primer. These are totally lacking in pigmentation. I really have to pile on the product to get even a hint of colour.

And they don’t last, even with a primer. They either wear off completely or they crease.

Price

I paid around $15 each for these.

Would I repurchase?

No. These just don’t have the colour payoff and / or longevity that I’m looking for.

Crap hey, so much for being Chanel's il sis brand, and for $15 you could grab something much better hey!

Yeah and they're hard as brick as well. I would be digging into the powder with my brush or applicator and I'd still get jack. What a pity, I have quite a lot of this too :(

Hmm, yeah that's not good. I do love their water-based lip tints though. Like really love.

I found the same – I was given a gorgeous purple one as a present but the pigmentation is rubbish. Very disappointing.

    Damn that's really disappointing >_<

thats a shame I have maroon glace too but havn't actually used it. I have a purple one which is very pigmented, lasts long and doesn't crease ( this is used dry and without primer) so maybe it depends on the colour?

Yep, plenty of better products out there. Very disappointing.

I'm glad it's not just me Tine.

I bought a blush last week and it's proving to be fantastic. So I'm not going to write off the brand just yet.

I guess I was hoping for a bit of the pizazz of Chanel.

  • JacieO

Indeed. I think it's made more heartbreaking by the fact that the colours look so beautiful in the pots.

You could be right, Khanh. I might try out the purple instore and see what happens.
