Product Review – Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream

Product Review – Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream

I absolutely love going into Aesop shops. I think it’s the mix of apothecary packaging, the strong focus on natural products and the beautifully friendly staff that always make me feel welcome.

I purchased the Rosehip Seed Lip Cream with high expectations. This product promised to give me soft lips without a gloss finish (ie very natural looking lips).

Read on to find out if it delivered.

Packaging

This comes in a tiny metal tube.

My only issue with the packaging is that, once you screw off the lid, the product comes. And it comes. And it comes. In fact, the only way to stop the product from seeping out is to put the lid back on, which can be inconvenient if you need a few applications.

If you see in the above picture, that’s the product coming out without me encouraging it. It’s like it has a mind of its own!

Product

This is a lovely product to apply. It slicks on easily and is very cooling on the lips. After around 30 seconds, it all but disappears, leaving a natural finish.

My big issue is that this just isn’t very moisturising. It does an ok job but it’s not emollient and, as a result, I find myself reapplying almost constantly.

Price

This set me back $15. Not cheap for such a small amount but I have had the tube for nearly six months and am only halfway through. So it’s pricey but good value in terms of longevity.

Would I repurchase?

No. This just doesn’t do enough for my lips in terms of moisture. But that could just be me. I have a friend who swears by it, so it could just be a matter of horses for courses.

great review, don't think I'll get this one in a hurry, sounds a bit messy, this post did give me dirty thoughts though lol O_0

lol… um, mind in the gutter here too… I think alot of metal tubes do that because it doesn't bounce back the way plastic does, so just keeps exerting pressure and forcing out the contents. So I tend to avoid. But I walked past the Toorak Rd shop today and it smelled heavenly from the doorway :)

Thanks Dr Kiki for the scientific explanation. ;-) That totally makes sense. It is a beautiful shop, and I like alot of their products, but this just didn't work.

Was it the photo of the cream oozing out that did it? Cos if it was, I totes thought the same!
