Product Review – the POREfessional

Product Review – the POREfessional

As you all know, I have cavernous pores. As in, a third world family could find shelter in them, they are that huge.

When I received Benefit’s the POREfessional as part of the Maxted Thomas event, I was super excited to give it a try. The lovely Benefit girls demonstrated how it worked and sent me off home with a full size tube to try myself.

Now, before the jump I have to warn you about the photos.  Under the jump are photos of my nose.  Without any product.  It’s pretty foul.  There’s a mother blackhead there and you get to see my hirsutism issues.  In short, a hot mess.

I tossed up whether to show you guys the photos but I felt that, without them, I couldn’t do this product true justice.  It needs to be seen to be believed.

So, if you’re brave, jump it!

Packaging

This comes in a aqua / teal tube.  It’s very Benefit in its design (modern retro) and is designed to appeal to both males and females.  The tube itself has a basic round opening.  It’s all very cute, functional and fits easily into my purse.

Product

This product very similar to Dr Brandt’s Pores No More and works in pretty much the same way.  The magic ingredient is dimethicone (found in pretty much every primer on the market) which gives that wonderful ‘slip’ and smoothness to the skin.

Unlike Pores No More, which I find dries me out and creates flakies, this is very moisturising and easy to apply.  I just dab some around my face and then gently wipe in with either my fingers or a brush (foundation or concealer brushes work equally well).

This mattifies any oiliness I have and certainly makes my makeup go on smoother.  I also find that I don’t get as oily as quickly when wearing this, which is a big bonus.

And it easily reapplies. If I find my makeup wearing during the day, I can just dab some more of this on and it’s as good as new.

But the BIG question is….  does this erase my pores?  I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

Urrrgh, without any product.

With POREfessional

With POREfessional and Foundation (Kryolan TV Paint Stick)

I think this this is an amazing transformation.  What I like is that the product seems to hide the worst of my skin’s excesses and, at the risk of sounding totally corny, it gives me confidence knowing that my pores are kinda hidden.

Price

In the US, this will set you back $28. In Australia, $53.

Would I repurchase?

At first I thought this was lovely, but that I could live without it. However, over the last week and a half, I’ve been wearing this nearly every day and I’m addicted to the poreless appearance I get when using it. So, yes, I will be repurchasing once I run out. I may have to go without food, but that sacrifice will be worth it!
